The Aspen Health Strategy Group recently released Reversing the U.S. Maternal Mortality Crisis, a new report that explores how to tackle the national crisis of maternal mortality and morbidity through improvements in health policy and practice.

High rates of maternal mortality in the United States are a symptom of a larger problem: lack of investment in or attention to women’s health as a whole. From failing to provide health insurance to low-income women to having no national policy regarding paid maternity leave, the U.S. fails to prioritize women’s health and health care throughout their lives.
