Biography​
Carmen Green is Vice President at Reproductive Health (RH) Impact: The Collaborative for Equity & Justice, creating a world where Black communities can achieve our full potential for reproductive health, wellbeing, safety and joy. They create programmatic strategies, manage state policy and research programs as the co-lead for the new Research & Policy Center. As former VP of Research & Strategy at National Birth Equity Collaborative (NBEC), she was foundational support in creating a Black woman centric health advocacy organization with transnational scope. Carmen is a 2016 cohort member of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities State Policy Fellowship. At Louisiana Budget Project, they analyzed health policy and its impact on low and middle income families. She also supported state coalitions for long term care support and predatory lending. As the HBIC of Hazel Green LLC, they build capacity for Black-owned businesses, community organizations and family services. Carmen is a writer, reproductive justice activist and doula.
She's earned a bachelors degree in sociology from Wake Forest University. At Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, she earned masters degrees in maternal and child health and community health education. She is a current sociology doctoral student at the University of California San Francisco, School of Nursing, where they continue research in perinatal health inequities and reproductive justice as a social movements. Carmen’s commitment is to honor our ancestors by using their gifts to serve Black families, and to have fun every day.
